It really was a crazy opening weekend in Ware, Ill at Grassy Lake Hunting Club. High hopes for opening day came crashing down on a 65 degree bright and sunny morning with only 6 ducks being killed all day. Sunday was not much different at all. That morning it was sunny and warm again and there were 2 ducks killed and then that evening we though we were really going to finally kill some ducks when skies clouded up and the temperature dropped a bit but those thoughts were soon over as shooting light came to an end and there were only 3 ducks on the ground. Monday morning kept our hopes up and we ended up with 21 but that evening hopefully is going to set the tone for the '09-'10 season. The weather was cloudy, rainy and cool and from 3 pits there were 63 ducks that hit the ground. So the final conclusion is we have a few ducks around but until it really cools off and we get some new birds down we are going to have to have that kind of weather to kill them until then!!!
